The 2026 Ball Weekend has begun!

What is the ball weekend?

A weekend of officially KNLTB-approved "playing" while enjoying drinks, snacks, music, and entertainment with a team of your own making, consisting of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people.

Een groep mensen zit buiten op een terrasje, te kletsen en te genieten van een drankje in een ontspannen buitenomgeving.

The rules of the game

The Ballenweekend is an open tennis and padel tournament where all players with a KNLTB membership can register.

To ensure the open (team) tournament runs smoothly, we have drawn up a number of rules:

  • Availability

Your team is available from Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the times below for playing matches:

    • Friday: 18:00 to 23:15 (with DJ)
    • Saturday: 10:00 to 19:45 (followed by barbecue, drinks, and evening party with artists and DJs)
    • Sunday: 10:00 to 17:30 (followed by award ceremony and artists)
  • KNLTB terms and conditions

    • Our matches count towards the KNLTB DSS system.
    • You must be affiliated with the KNLTB. If unregistered players OR participants without a KNLTB number participate in the Ballenweekend, the team in question will be immediately (further) excluded from participation.
  • Game setup

    • Each team plays approximately 10 matches during the weekend.
    • Every player plays at least one match during the Ballenweekend.
    • Matches are played on a timed basis. The duration of padel matches is 45 minutes and tennis matches is 60 minutes.
    • The winning team reports the result immediately, but no later than one hour after the match, via the registration form on this website. Should the result not be submitted in time, one reminder will be sent via the Captains WhatsApp group or the public address system. In the event of no response, the match officials will set the result to 0-0.
  • Registration

Registration is per team with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people. Incomplete registrations will not be processed and will therefore be excluded from the draw and participation. So be careful when filling out the registration form!

    Registration is closed.

    REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
  • Tennis teams

Tennis teams can register in one of the following categories:

    • Women's Doubles (DD)
    • Men's Doubles (HD)
    • Mixed Doubles (GD)

The match management strives to divide the teams according to strength as best as possible.

The competition management reserves the right to merge categories.

  • Padel teams

Unlike tennis, there is no option to register in categories (DD/HD/GD) in padel. However, the tournament organizers strive to divide the padel teams as best as possible based on skill level and/or gender.

  • Cancellation & Refund

For cancellations before April 22, 2026, your registration fee will be refunded.

For cancellations after April 22, 2026, or no-shows at the tournament, your registration fee will not be refunded.

  • Change team

Once a team is registered, the team can be changed a maximum of once. Changes can only be submitted on Friday, May 22, 2026. Please mark this date in your calendar in case it proves necessary.

  • Match schedule

The match officials schedule the matches, that is to say, which teams play against each other at which time.

Your team/doubles lineup must be determined by your team itself for each match. Do this in consultation with your own team (during the weekend). Therefore, your team decides who plays when, provided that every player on the team plays at least one match during the Ballenweekend.

  • Important information

    • The number of registrations may exceed the possible number of participating teams (particularly in the padel category). This is a luxury problem that we, as the organization, will very likely have to deal with. We do not want to disappoint anyone, but unfortunately, we cannot always avoid this. Therefore, registration does not guarantee participation. This applies even if you participated last year or in previous years.
    • The Ballenweekend is a tournament where there is a possibility of noise disturbance during matches (we try to limit this where possible).
    • Consuming self-brought alcoholic beverages is not permitted, and causing a nuisance as a result of alcohol and/or drug use will lead to denial of access to Sportpark Den Dries.
    • The use, possession, or trading of drugs and/or (soft) drugs is strictly prohibited. In the event of a violation, immediate removal from Sportpark Den Dries will follow, and the police may be called in.
    • Security will be present at the sports park during the Ballenweekend. Participants and visitors may be subjected to a preventive search and inspection of bags brought in. In case of refusal, access to the sports park may be denied.

Hardly any event or association can exist anymore without sponsorship. Our tournament, too, cannot do without your help as a sponsor.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that is not listed, please contact us via the contact form.

  • What if I am unavailable during the weekend?

That is not a problem if you can play at least one match during the Ballenweekend. You will play approximately 10 matches in total with your team over the weekend, so with 4 players, it shouldn't be a problem if someone is unavailable for a day.

  • Do I need a KNLTB number?

Yes, a KNLTB membership is mandatory because we play according to the DSS ranking system.

  • Are there any costs associated with the ball weekend?

Yes, we charge a registration fee of €35.00 per person. This includes a delicious, well-catered evening meal and a fantastic party on Saturday night. Additionally, entertainment (lights, sound, DJ, artists) and facilities are provided every day on and around the tennis and padel courts.

  • Can a team register for both Padel and Tennis?

No, with one team you can only participate in one category/event.

  • Do I also need to be available in the evenings?

Your team must be available during playing times (see rules), including in the evening. Coordinate amongst yourselves with your team members whether there are enough players for the scheduled matches.

  • Can a team have different ratings?

Yes, that is possible. We want you and your assembled team to enjoy a fun and sporty weekend of playing football. In practice, we have found that teams with equal ratings play more entertaining matches. Wherever possible, we ensure that the teams are grouped equally.

  • What are the playing times during the ball weekend?

Your team plays matches at the following times (you may decide who from your team plays the match):

    • Friday: 18:00 to 23:15
    • Saturday: 10:00 to 19:45
    • Sunday: 10:00 to 17:30

We try to keep the (rest) times between matches as even as possible.

To enrol

In previous editions, we opened registration at a specific time, and there was a massive turnout. In fact, there was such a massive influx of registrations that the website crashed. We will handle this differently this year to prevent such inconveniences and annoyances.

Registration opens this year on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM and closes on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 PM. This ensures everyone has sufficient time to register their team. Registration for tennis teams remains possible after this period, until May 15, 10:00 AM. We would like to offer you a number of tips / conditions regarding this:

  • Form a team with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 players. It is an advantage if the skill levels of the team members are approximately equal. Registrations of teams consisting of fewer than 4 players will not be processed.
  • Every player/team member must be affiliated with the KNLTB.
  • Register your team once through the captain. If you register multiple times, you certainly do not increase your chances of being selected.
  • Registration takes place via the form below on our website. You do not need to pay upon registration; you only do so after confirmation of your team's participation.
  • For cancellations before April 22, 2026, your money will be refunded; for cancellations after this date, the registration fee will not be refunded.
  • There is one day after registration during which changes can be submitted; this is only possible on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. No changes can be submitted or accepted before or after this time!

Finally

In recent years, the organizers of the Ballenweekend have faced a situation where many more teams register than we can actually accommodate. This is a "luxury problem" the organization is dealing with. We do not want to disappoint anyone, but unfortunately, we cannot avoid this, as we will very likely be unable to place a number of teams. Therefore, registration does not guarantee participation, even if you have participated in previous years. Based on various criteria, we will discretionally approve registrations for participation. We aim to communicate this in a timely manner, no later than April 15, 2026. It is pointless to contact us regarding this matter. We, as the organization, hope for your understanding. Should your team's registration not be accepted, you are of course very welcome to come and watch during the Ballenweekend.
